According to the announcement shared with Bitcoin.com News, the protocol allows networks to manage restaking implementations autonomously while maintaining control over security parameters such as collateral assets, operator selection, and slashing mechanisms. The Symbiotic app, however, is not available to certain regions including the United States.
Symbiotic explained that its modular design operates as a thin coordination layer, avoiding external governance risks through immutable core contracts. Over 40 projects, including Avail, Ethena, and Omni, are building integrations across rollups, data availability layers, and oracle networks. Thirteen projects plan mainnet deployments following Symbiotic’s launch.
Symbiotic further said the protocol supports multiple asset types, including ERC20 tokens and defi liquidity positions. Security measures include five independent audits, a $120,000 Cantina competitive code review, and $2.3 billion in total value locked (TVL) across 18 mainnet assets. Testnet activity involved 75 network deployments, 82 operators, and 93 vaults testing stake coordination.
Symbiotic’s architecture comprises five components: Collateral (asset-agnostic security), Vaults (customizable restaking), Operators (provider registry), Resolvers (slashing arbitration), and Networks (operator management frameworks). These enable cross-chain collaboration without compromising network sovereignty.
“Symbiotic marks a historic moment as the first feature-complete shared security protocol to reach mainnet,” Misha P, the co-founder of Symbiotic told Bitcoin.com News. “The robust ecosystem already building on our protocol demonstrates the strong demand for a production-ready, permissionless security solution.”
Symbiotic’s co-founder added:
By creating a credibly neutral coordination layer for shared security, we’re enabling networks to achieve stronger security guarantees and accelerating their decentralization roadmap while dramatically improving capital efficiency.
