“Krapopolis,” the animated TV series from “Rick and Morty” co-creator Dan Harmon, has been renewed for a third season without airing a single episode.
The show, set in mythical ancient Greece, is set to premiere on Fox sometime in 2023. It will be voiced by an all-star cast, including Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell.
Krapopolis launched its inaugural 10,420 Krap Chicken NFT collection in August, which allows holders to vote on show elements, access behind-the-scenes content, attend IRL experiences with the cast and crew and redeem rewards for official merch and digital goods.
Currently, Krap Chickens can still be minted on the Krapopolis site for 0.18 ether (ETH), or about $280, while the floor price of the collection on OpenSea sits at around 0.11 ETH (about $170). The floor price being lower than the cost to mint an NFT in a collection is generally viewed as a bad sign, as recently seen with Porsche's ill-received NFT collection.
Still, Fox's president of scripted programming Michael Thorn told Deadline on Thursday that he remained "bullish" on supporting projects with promise. “While [a third season order] is atypical, it was a no-brainer for us with 'Krapopolis.'”
In July, it was announced that Fox Entertainment would be investing $100 million into the project. According to OpenSea, the project has done 418 ETH (about $650,000) in sales so far.
