El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele met with Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk at the Tesla Gigafactory in Texas on Saturday. The two touched on a range of subjects, with their main focus being artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and the future of humanity.

Bukele shared a video clip of the meeting on social media platform X shortly after. In his post, the Salvadoran president expressed that it was a pleasure to spend hours conversing with Musk, calling him “one of the great minds of our time.”

Musk later responded on X, saying he had an outstanding discussion with President Bukele. They explored topics like the nature of reality, the future of humanity, and how AI and robotics could impact the world. The Tesla billionaire added: “El Salvador has an amazing leader.”

The meeting at Tesla’s Gigafactory highlighted both leaders’ shared enthusiasm for how emerging technologies might influence global progress, with El Salvador positioning itself as a forward-thinking player in innovation. In 2021, El Salvador became the first country to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender.
