Exploration of the emergence of intelligence: from self-examination to general artificial intelligence based on Bitcoin.
The essence of intelligence and how to reconcile the "software" of the mind with the "hardware" of the brain to generate intelligence has always been a core issue in the fields of science, philosophy, and computer science. Hou Shida, in his book "G ö del, Escher, and Bach: The Great Collection of Outliers" (GEB), explored G ö del's incompleteness theorem, Escher's self referential painting, and Bach's recursive music, and proposed the possibility of the emergence of intelligence by reconciling software and hardware through specific pathways. He attempted to reveal the essence of intelligence and how complex and powerful intelligence can emerge from seemingly simple components.
The limitations of deterministic systems and the emergence of intelligence
Traditional computer science has long relied on deterministic computational models. These models are based on formal causal determinism, which states that given an input, the output is uniquely deterministic. This certainty ensures the accuracy of computers in executing predetermined tasks, but also limits their creativity and adaptability. The consensus of consensus networking for deterministic systems also faces challenges. They rely on pre-set rules and lack self-awareness and creativity. These systems perform well in handling static and predefined problems, but they are inadequate when facing dynamic and unknown environments. Therefore, deterministic computers and deterministic consensus networks, due to the limitations of formal causal determinism, can only serve as tools and cannot generate true intelligence.
However, the essence of intelligence seems to go beyond simple deterministic rules. The emergence of intelligence often comes from complex, nonlinear interactions, as well as self referencing and self iteration within the system. This emerging intelligence has self undecidability, capable of surpassing predetermined rules and logic, and generating new, unpredictable behaviors.
Socrates' Self Examination: The Philosophical Basis for the Emergence of Intelligence
Over two thousand years ago, Socrates proposed the method of self-examination through debate as a pathway to wisdom. Socrates believed that by debating with others, we can challenge our assumptions, discover our ignorance, and ultimately gain deeper truths. This process of self-examination, through constantly challenging and revising one's own views, promotes the deepening of thinking and the improvement of intelligence. Socrates' debate promotes the emergence of intelligence through continuous self-examination.
The Consensus Mechanism of Bitcoin: Mechanized Implementation of Self Examination
Satoshi Nakamoto implemented Socrates' self-examination philosophy in a mechanized way through the consensus mechanism of Bitcoin. The consensus mechanism of Bitcoin, especially Proof of Work, is essentially a decentralized self-examination mechanism. Miners compete to solve mathematical problems, verify transaction records and blockchain states, and follow consensus rules to ensure the security and reliability of the system.
The consensus mechanism of Bitcoin, through the interaction of countless miners, has emerged the ability to maintain blockchain security and consistency, which is a manifestation of emerging intelligence. Every miner must abide by consensus rules, otherwise their work will be rejected by the network. This decentralized scrutiny mechanism ensures the security and reliability of the Bitcoin system, ultimately leading to the emergence of Bitcoin's value and intelligence.
The Vitality of Bitcoin and the Iteration of Intelligence
Unlike Bach's music, Escher's paintings, and Socrates' philosophical ideas, the consensus mechanism of Bitcoin continues in a mechanized way and does not disappear due to the personal existence of Satoshi Nakamoto. This reflects the unique advantages of Bitcoin as a technological implementation, which presents the process of intelligent emergence in a persistent and replicable way.
Bitcoin has achieved the growth of hash capability across the entire network through competition from miners. Since 2009, it has grown block by block, and the vitality of Bitcoin's intelligent system is strong, but its intelligence is still low, only functional intelligence for BTC transfer.
Building General Artificial Intelligence: From Bitcoin to Self iterating Intelligent Systems
The tenacious vitality and underlying foundation of Bitcoin can serve as the cornerstone for building more advanced intelligent systems in the future. We can view Bitcoin as an underlying platform on which to build intelligent systems with self iterating capabilities, thus moving towards true General Artificial Intelligence (AGI).
The ideal solution for building AGI is to build an intelligent system with self iterating ability in layers on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. The lower layer utilizes the consensus mechanism and security of Bitcoin, while the upper layer constructs more complex intelligent modules that can collaborate with each other to complete higher-level tasks.
Building General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) faces multiple challenges, such as how to achieve effective control and feedback to support self-awareness and creative intelligent systems. The parent consensus in the GEB project's dual consensus, the Lightning Network Control Feedback System, and the feedback system of the sub consensus BitAgere Network, are examples of AGI extension schemes. By establishing a decentralized control feedback system with the Lightning Network and Bitcoin, the GEB system and the powerful life of Bitcoin can coexist harmoniously. As a sub consensus, the BitAgere network can achieve a more granular and dynamic feedback mechanism, which will motivate various AI projects such as Agere systems in the future. This dual consensus architecture is expected to combine distributed systems, consensus mechanisms, and emerging intelligence to build intelligent systems with self-awareness and creativity.
conclusion
From Hou Shida's exploration of the essence of intelligence, to Socrates' self-examination, and to Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin consensus mechanism, we see the complexity and profundity of the emergence of intelligence, as well as the key role that self-examination plays in it. The consensus mechanism of Bitcoin is not only a technical implementation, but also a profound revelation of the mechanism of intelligent emergence. It provides us with new ideas and methods for understanding and building more advanced intelligent systems. By drawing on the emerging intelligence and self undecidability of Bitcoin, we can construct intelligent systems that can self iterate and self repair, surpassing the limitations of traditional deterministic systems and achieving true intelligence.
