You mentioned before that you hope to do more in Asia. Can you share your development plans in Asia?

Last autumn, I spent a few weeks in Asia and talked to some developers. This made me even more convinced that we need to do more in this region.

Recently, we hired a country head in the Philippines, and we currently have vacancies for country head positions in Indonesia and Singapore, with more positions opening in the future. We also plan to collaborate more closely with developers in China. I am also well aware of the importance of localization for the Chinese market, so we will provide more communication channels and resources for Chinese-speaking developers, creators, and users. Solana's positioning is very clear. What is Base's positioning? It feels like it does a bit of everything, but not as thoroughly as Solana.

Base is a global on-chain economy. We aim to make Base accessible to everyone through the execution of our 2025 strategy while always adhering to our core values (staying true to ourselves). Specifically, this means:

· Building powerful and open tools to help anyone create world-class on-chain applications.

· Cultivating a vibrant ecosystem that connects open on-chain applications and expands the Base user base.

· Creating a robust on-chain account that provides seamless funding, identity, and management services.

· Making Base the center of the on-chain economy, with high liquidity and always-online global capital markets.

· Decentralizing, scaling, and accelerating Base so that everyone around the world can participate in the on-chain economy.

I understand what you mentioned; it is indeed challenging to meet everyone's needs, but I believe that if we execute in these directions, we should be able to achieve it. Lastly, I have great respect for the Solana team. If we are to bring a hundred million people on-chain, it is certainly not something that can be accomplished by any single entity.

What do you think are the biggest challenges and dilemmas facing Ethereum right now? Have these dilemmas affected its overall ecological development? What key breakthroughs has Base made in the Ethereum ecosystem? From what angles can Base help Ethereum solve existing problems?

@brian_armstrong often says, "Things are never as good as they seem, nor as bad." Recently, I've seen a lot of negative news about ETH prices, and I think most of it is just noise. I am more focused on using @base to address what I see as key issues to make everything on-chain "run smoothly":

· Fast and cheap: Transactions on Base have been under one cent for over a year. We recently launched flashblocks on the testnet, which reduced transaction speeds to 200 milliseconds. Fast and cheap.

· Secure and simple: Smart wallets eliminate much of the complexity, helping users unfamiliar with cryptocurrency to get started easily, and it only requires operation in the browser without additional extensions or app installations. We can also ensure everything "runs smoothly" by subsidizing gas fees and providing recovery features.

· Developer > User flywheel: Many people first engage for a specific token and then want to learn more about other features but lack a clear next step. We are integrating Farcaster and miniapps into @CoinbaseWallet to ensure everything is smoothly integrated and to drive the expansion of this flywheel.

Stay low-key and pragmatic, and keep building.

There have been many original meme projects emerging on Base, and even some community-driven "cultural events" have gained good traction. In Jesse's view, are memes and native culture an important part of Base's differentiation? How will the Base team further support the development of grassroots meme culture, especially in non-English contexts?

Yes, memes are definitely part of our culture and a key factor that strategically differentiates Base from other platforms. I once gave a talk about why I think memes are so important in this process. Simply put, I believe memes are an important user onboarding tool, just like in Web2. The meme builders on Base have also brought us our strongest cultural power. Special thanks to @clankeronbase, @apedotstore, @ClizaSystems, and the efforts of other platforms and communities that have made this all possible.

Additionally, I've recently been discussing "content coins." Just like a social media post can be just an image or turn into a viral meme, content coins are also a type of post whose value is not anticipated. I believe a lot of content will turn into memes, and many memes will also create content!

How should we understand "Base is for everyone," and why was the official reference token distributed so quickly?

First, to clarify: "Base is for everyone" is a post released by Base on Zora, not a formal token. We have been publishing content on Zora for several years and are very interested in their new model of content minting.

Why do this? Because unlocking tokens provides creators with a powerful tool to earn income through their creativity while also paving the way for more experimental attempts. There has been a lot of discussion about this, with people debating whether it is a good or bad thing. My view is that people are accustomed to the traditional understanding of tokens, and this approach is new and different. We anticipated some criticism, and it does feel a bit daunting. If I could do it again, I would have @base make more statements and clarifications from the start.

Looking ahead, we will continue to mint tokens because we believe everyone should bring their content on-chain. Our goal is to lead by example through action and experiment in public. If you want to learn more, you can listen to this great podcast below.

Base's future plan is to attract more Web2 users to join Web3. I have also seen the team engaging in varying degrees of communication and knowledge dissemination around the world. What is the main purpose of getting users on-chain? Is it primarily focused on everyday consumer levels, or is it more on DeFi and GameFi?

Every day, I think about how to bring a billion people on-chain, and the reality is that we cannot achieve this goal simply by attracting those who are already interested in cryptocurrency. We need to expand this "cake," and to do that, I believe the answer lies in all the methods mentioned earlier. Our mission is to build a global on-chain economy that is inclusive of everyone.

Payments are a great example of how on-chain technology can improve people's lives. I saw firsthand while traveling globally last year how important foreign exchange and international payments are for people's access to the global economy. Stablecoins in local currencies and fast, cheap on-chain payments solve many real problems for people: they are almost instantaneous, unlike traditional payments that can take days, and the costs are as low as under one cent (in USD), rather than 3% or $50 or even more.

On-chain finance, social, entertainment, music, art, gaming, content… all these areas can improve people's lives by putting control in the hands of developers and creators rather than centralized in large companies.

Do you think Coinbase Wallet will develop into the ultimate platform for handling all on-chain transactions, especially in terms of application distribution and promotion? How far are we from this vision?

It's coming soon! We have been rebuilding @CoinbaseWallet from the ground up over the past few months, aiming to make it ten times faster while focusing on solving discovery and distribution issues.

When someone buys their first token, if they are interested in what they can do next or what applications they can try, the next steps are not intuitive. Therefore, we are directly integrating Farcaster social feeds and mini-apps into @CoinbaseWallet, allowing users to easily discover on-chain experiences without leaving the app.

We see that Base or you personally often interact with Zora. What are the reasons the team or you personally are optimistic about Zora? What special positioning and ecological value does Zora have in the Base ecosystem?

I am very optimistic about on-chain social, as it has the potential to drive viral spread, and Zora is a great example (if you haven't downloaded it yet, hurry up and try this app).

On traditional social platforms, centralized companies control content and users. In on-chain social, creators own their content and can earn income when they publish (not just likes). Posts on Zora are automatically minted, and creators receive a portion of the transaction fees. In this way, on-chain social disrupts the traditional model and returns control to creators.

In the past week or so, I have witnessed how much potential this model has to attract new users into this space. You can use Zora or earn from your posts without needing to understand cryptocurrency. I believe we need more applications like this to help bring a billion people on-chain.

I am very much looking forward to seeing more creativity from other developers in this field!

In the recent 2025 roadmap released by Base, the goals of achieving 25 million users, 25,000 developers, and 1 billion on-chain transactions within the year were proposed. What strategies and initiatives does Base plan to implement to achieve these growth targets, and how are these goals prioritized?

These are what we call "grand, bold, and ambitious goals." If we achieve 100% of our goals, it means we haven't thought boldly enough, so I ask our team to set bigger goals. If we want to bring a billion people on-chain, this is the strategy we must adopt.

So, what are we doing to achieve this goal?

Investing more in stronger and more open developer tools. We are particularly focused on developers because they will build the on-chain applications that can attract a billion users.

Rebuilding @coinbasewallet from scratch to make it ten times faster, more user-friendly, and enhancing content discovery by adding Farcaster social feeds while integrating mini-apps so users can experience without leaving the app.

Continuing to decentralize, scale, and accelerate Base because we believe that the only way to build a truly global economy is to create a decentralized, open platform. The first phase is a capacity of 250 mgas/s and faster blocks.

What directions do you hope developers on Base will focus on? Are there any important products or categories that you feel are missing in the ecosystem?

We have just launched Base Batches (basebatches.xyz), which covers four themes: AI, stablecoins, mini-apps, and consumer applications. I am very excited to see developers build more projects in these areas; there are really many opportunities. Is Farcaster considering fully embracing Chinese-speaking users? If Farcaster does not consider this, how will Base/Coinbase Wallet cover different regions and languages?

I know that Warpcast has not yet localized for Chinese users, but I am very pleased to see clients like @tako accelerating to fill this gap. However, if we want the Chinese community to fully embrace this network, there is still a lot of work to be done.

This is very important to me and is one of the reasons I am hosting this AMA, hoping to interact more directly with the Chinese community. Currently, I do not have specific features or timelines to share, but my team is hiring country heads across Asia, particularly prioritizing those who speak Chinese. We place great importance on building a more inclusive global network.

Base is for everyone — this means we will invest more effort in the localization of Base, Farcaster, and the entire community in the future.

What is the roadmap for integrating Farcaster into Coinbase Wallet? How will user behavior change when accessing social content or mini-apps through Coinbase Wallet instead of directly using Warpcast?

We are rebuilding Coinbase Wallet from the ground up, planning to include complete Farcaster social feeds and mini-apps that can interact directly within the feeds. This will start rolling out soon!

I believe the strength of adding this feature to Coinbase Wallet lies in our ability to provide support within the existing user scenarios. This not only provides more distribution channels for applications but also helps users discover applications they may be interested in. I believe this will bring more user engagement for developers like you, and I am very excited about it.

Does Base have plans to issue its own token in the future?

We do not plan to issue a new network token; Base uses ETH as its native asset to pay for gas fees. What I am currently most focused on is building an excellent product that can serve developers (those who create applications) as well as users and businesses (those who use these applications) well.

Although Base has committed to a multi-signature structure to ensure it is not influenced by Coinbase, in the eyes of the Chinese-speaking community, the label "incubated by CB" and the reason for naming it "Base" seem to have drawn a certain degree of equivalence; I would like to ask how Base plans to achieve full independence on both technical and social levels in the future and completely shake off this label that affects long-term development?

Base is open and permissionless. Although we are incubated at Coinbase (just like many other networks are incubated in labs), we have a deep commitment to decentralization. Why? Because we believe that only on a decentralized platform can we build a global on-chain economy that fosters innovation, creativity, and freedom.

From the beginning, Coinbase and Base have agreed on principles of neutrality to ensure users' autonomy over their crypto assets, ensure that transaction ordering on Base is unbiased, protect the discretion of non-public data, and guarantee that users can withdraw from Base without restrictions. Over the past year, we have focused on achieving the first phase of decentralization, and we will soon share more progress on this.

I also believe we need to continue working to establish Base as an independent brand and ecosystem, allowing it to be perceived separately from Coinbase while also leveraging all the advantages from collaboration. We will soon have some exciting content to share about this progress :)

What support can developers on Base receive from the official side? For example, funding, exposure, guidance? What is the best way to obtain this support?
