Klaus Schwab, Chairman and founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), resigned from his role on Monday, according to a press release published by the organization.
The German professor who earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering and another one in economics was most popular for hosting a private gathering of the world’s most powerful and influential people, every January in the Swiss alpine resort town of Davos.
Many in the crypto community regard the WEF as the epitome of centralization, a shadowy group of powerful politicians and billionaires who set the global agenda with little to no input from the average citizen.
And now, with Schwab retiring and fading into the background, all eyes will be on who succeeds the iconic founder, and what direction the organization will take. Austrian business magnate and former Chairman and CEO of Nestle, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe has taken over the reins temporarily, but a permanent chair is yet to be chosen. Until now, Brabeck-Letmathe had been the WEF’s vice chairman.
“Following my recent announcement, and as I enter my 88th year, I have decided to step down from the position of Chair and as a member of the Board of Trustees, with immediate effect,” Schwab said.

Many have vilified the WEF for its globalist agenda. The think tank has published controversial articles about its goals for 2030 and beyond. Goals that include drastic reductions in property ownership and the consumption of insects to deal with a growing population. These radical ideas have been widely ridiculed, spawning several light-hearted memes, such as the phrases, “You shall own nothing and be happy,” and “You shall eat ze bugs,” the latter poking fun at Schwab’s thick German accent.
