Metaplanet, fondly known as Asia’s MicroStrategy, has announced that it will raise approximately $745 million (¥116 billion) for more bitcoin purchases by issuing 21 million new stock rights at a 0% discount rate. This will be the largest bitcoin purchase in the history of the Asian stock market.

This is the first step in its 2025–2026 Bitcoin Plan with an ambitious goal to acquire 10,000 bitcoin by the end of 2025 and 21,000 by the end of 2026. In doing this, the company intends to establish itself as one of the biggest corporate bitcoin owners in the world.

As of Dec. 31, 2024, Metaplanet held 1,761 bitcoin at an average purchase price of $76,107 (¥11.85 million), achieving a significant 309.82% BTC yield and a market value exceeding $177.9 million (¥27.7billion).

The company’s market cap has also grown by 7,000% since it adopted the bitcoin treasury strategy, deploying 100% of capital raises into bitcoin purchases. Dylan LeClair, Metaplanet’s Director of Bitcoin Strategy said,

“BTC Yield is the foundation of our strategy. Our mission is to maximize bitcoin per share for our shareholders. Bitcoin is not just an asset, it’s the exit strategy. We’re here to accumulate and lead, not sell.”

Simon Gerovich, Representative Director of Metaplanet added,

“The market has recognized Metaplanet as Tokyo’s preeminent bitcoin company, and we are seizing this momentum to solidify our position as a global leader. Our vision is to lead the bitcoin renaissance in Japan and emerge as one of the largest corporate bitcoin holders globally.”

With the goal to achieve a 35% BTC yield per quarter throughout 2025, Metaplanet’s 2025-2026 Bitcoin Plan reflects its commitment to delivering long-term value to its shareholders by increasing its bitcoin holdings and maximizing BTC yield.
