Scatter’s COO, pseudonymously known as Haiku, stepped down from the Milady-themed NFT collection launchpad and marketplace on New Year’s Day.

Announcing their decision in an X post on Thursday, Haiku said: “My work is done,” adding that Scatter has become a sustainable entity in a very strong position and other work now required their full attention.

Scatter is a platform that enables artists and creators to launch, mint, buy and sell NFTs across multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon and Blast. It facilitated the creation of numerous Milady-inspired collections, expanding the reach of Milady derivatives.

“There have been many ups and downs, heartbreak and stress, but also the satisfaction of helping artists win and making a dent in cringe culture with authentic art,” Haiku said. “Scatter has been the launchpad for many of the most significant collections in the last few years. It has remained artist-first and will continue to be artist-first.”

Haiku has been involved in Scatter since naming the platform in November 2021, initially as an advisor and then as an executive. While Haiku will not be involved in decision-making or active projects going forward, they will remain in a small advisory role to help in emergencies or when the team needs an opinion on something important, they said.

Notably, countering perceptions that Haiku became rich from the platform, Haiku claimed they had refused a salary during the last few years, saying it was more important that the team had the runway they needed.

“Scatter’s inception began when platforms betrayed artists, and with that, I had a rage within me to ensure artists had their place,” Haiku said. “It was never about anything else to me but that. I believe we cannot allow evil people to have power, nor can we allow people who do not respect the blockchain to pretend they have any power over the freedom of others. Because we have the freedom to say and make what we want, we must.”

Pseudonymous contributor Three has joined Scatter’s executive team as its new COO. “Three is a brilliant man, an incredible designer and a born leader,” Haiku said. “During his time at Scatter, he has consistently stepped up to do what needed to be done, led by example, inspired the team and performed exceptionally well under pressure. Under Three’s leadership, I am confident in Scatter’s success.”

Haiku said they were now 100% devoted to the long-term success of the art collective Oekaki Connect, which previously created Kemonokaki and other NFT collections. The platform fosters collaboration among digital artists, particularly in the web3 and NFT space.
