Blockchain developer Kartik Patel unveiled Anon World, a social platform based on Farcaster that is focused on anonymous interactions.
Built on the Farcaster protocol, Anon World expands on Patel’s earlier project, Anoncast, by introducing a Reddit-like interface that facilitates community-driven discussions while preserving user anonymity.
Central to its architecture is the mandatory use of ZK-based credentials stored locally in a user’s browser. No metadata or wallet information will be collected.
This means users must hold specific ERC20 tokens to make posts. The platform initially supports ERC20 tokens on the Base network but plans to extend support to other blockchain networks and credential types.
“We currently only support adding ERC20 credentials on Base, with more chains and types of credentials being added very soon,” Patel said.
Anon World includes features similar to subreddits, where groups of users with shared credentials can interact. These communities are supported by a token, a shared Farcaster account and a shared wallet.
Users can store their credentials in a local wallet or link them to a passkey-based profile. Patel explained that the latter allows for consistent identity across devices through linked posts using shared credentials.
Patel previously launched AnonCast, a decentralized social media application built on the Farcaster protocol. The application allows users to post anonymously to Farcaster and relay their posts to other platforms like X. Users must prove they have the right to post by holding a certain amount of the ANON token without revealing any personal information. The platform distinguished itself by employing zero-knowledge proofs to ensure its users' complete anonymity.
