Last October, Virtuals introduced the concept of AI agent tokenization. It was a bold move, but frankly, most people didn’t pay much attention. At that time, the concept was still ahead of its time. But what about now? Virtuals has achieved 50x and 100x returns in many agencies, and suddenly everyone has started to take notice.

However, the question is, did you see those 50x to 100x returns? If you want to achieve similar outsized returns, you need to get ahead of others; you need a solid argument and patience to position yourself ahead of the crowd that is just starting to pay attention.

If you join now, you might see 5x to 10x returns, which is still good, but far from the 50x to 100x returns that early adopters received. It’s always easy to look back in hindsight, isn’t it?

You might ask, is it too late to join now? No, it’s not too late. But you need to have a strategy. The “alpha” strategies from two months ago are no longer the best strategies. The Virtuals ecosystem has become very crowded, and the easily accessible opportunities have long been snatched up.

So, what should we do now? First, don’t limit yourself to one ecosystem. Base for Solana, Virtuals for ai16z, these are not the most important — both ecosystems have opportunities. It’s not about “serving one team” or criticizing others, but rather positioning yourself for good opportunities wherever they arise.

For example, I pay attention to agencies across Base, Solana, and anywhere else. Of course, I have a preference for Virtuals (I often post in support of them), but I keep an open mind. The key is to stay flexible, seek value, and not be blindly loyal.

How to find promising agencies

The key elements of a successful agency lie in its uniqueness and practicality. Without practicality, agent tokens will end up like 95% of “memecoins,” experiencing a brief hype before losing attention.

A successful agency needs to offer a unique product that provides concrete practical value. If the team knows how to attract attention, that’s even better:

They can create engaging legends or stories around the agency.

• They can quickly and continuously roll out new features.

• They actively meet the needs and demands of the community.

When these elements come together, the agency will find product-market fit (PMF). Teams that continue to execute and innovate after finding PMF, like @aixbt_agent, can lead their niche market and become pillars of the ecosystem.

Currently, the narratives and practicalities that are gaining attention on X include: posts that provide and deliver investment returns. There is a high demand for agencies that provide signals and insights for trading.

Hedge fund-style DAOs managed by human or AI agents that invest their funds.

On-chain trading is a popular topic among the crypto community on X, because we love to see someone turn $1,000 into $1 million. It’s not just about the money; it’s about the inspiration of seeing someone work hard and succeed.

The first wave of trading agents can effectively leverage this momentum, driving portfolio growth and showcasing their frameworks and strategies in real-time. This is an early theme, and under this incentive, some exciting participants have emerged.

Examples:

@Gekko_Agent: A self-improving trading agent on Virtuals that delivers results using @getaxal's infrastructure.

• @BigTonyXBT: Built on Cod3x, focused on executing trades in major currencies autonomously.

• @ProjectPlutus_: With a catchy token symbol $PPCOIN, this agent combines real-time analysis with automated DCA execution.

  I expect on-chain trading agents to be a focus in Q1/Q2 2025.

  Focus on developer practicality

  As the ecosystem continues to evolve, the demand for tools from developers becomes increasingly important.

  Examples:

  @soleng_agent: Monitors pull requests (indicating that agent tools can monitor and track code changes submitted by team members), conducts preliminary reviews, and serves as an AI judge for hackathons.

• @h4ck_terminal: A white-hat agent focused on bounty tasks and vulnerability checks.

3. Privacy and Confidentiality (TEE)

• Neural network experiments like @deepwormxyz.

Currently, there are no TEE agents on Virtuals, and the first one will surely see its value soar.

4. Strategies that transcend narratives

If you can transcend the mainstream and predict future narratives, you can secure returns of over 100x for yourself. That’s how I entered Virtuals early when its market cap was below $30 million. I believe the emerging narratives for 2025 include:

• Robotics

• Data

• Gamification of agents

• Collective Intelligence (Swarm/Collective Intelligence)

• Infrastructure
