U.S. President-elect Donald Trump issued a statement on Tuesday regarding his ambitious plans to streamline federal bureaucracy, announcing that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump introduced this initiative as a cornerstone of his “Save America” movement, aimed at reducing government waste and making operations more accountable.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” Trump said, adding:
Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies.
Trump’s statement positions DOGE as a critical component in his push for government reform. Musk expressed enthusiasm for the task ahead, stating, “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!”
The DOGE initiative is envisioned to be as transformative as the “Manhattan Project,” reflecting long-held Republican ambitions to drastically reform federal structures. Trump emphasized that DOGE will provide external advice and guidance to bring a fresh, entrepreneurial approach to governance.
Trump’s administration plans to work closely with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to achieve large-scale structural changes.
