The cryptocurrency world is full of I people.

Written by: Rhythm BlockBeats

As MooDeng surged to a market cap of $400 million in just a week, and GOAT pumped to $800 million in two weeks, more and more people in the community are lamenting their missed opportunities. Those who sold too early or missed the boat are regretting why their investments have gone to zero, and whether they missed such a great opportunity. It's not just meme coins; Bitcoin's price also approached an all-time high in the early hours of October 30, reaching $73,562, just $160 shy of a new record.

After years of trading cryptocurrencies, everyone has likely noticed that due to different personalities and experiences, trading styles, logic, and the projects they focus on vary. However, most have made some profit. This year marks a watershed moment in the crypto industry, with Bitcoin and altcoins operating independently, while memes have become the absolute leading narrative. We are eager to understand how individual personalities yield different results in such a historically rare market condition.

As Bitget celebrates its sixth anniversary, having experienced several bull and bear markets, it serves as a more suitable reference for user profiles. Thus, we quickly agreed to have Bitget help us contact 100 users to explore the connection between personality and trading. We chose the currently popular MBTI test, which includes 16 personality types, offering more granularity than zodiac signs. In our interviews, we covered trading styles, risk preferences, this year's returns, and even designed scenarios to see what decisions they would make in specific situations.

After in-depth investigation and interviews with these 100 Bitget users, we found that the I-type introverted personality occupies a significant 76% of the crypto space, while the extroverted E-type accounts for only 24%. INTJ has the highest representation at 18%, followed by INFP, ISTP, and INFJ in second, third, and fourth places, respectively. Interestingly, one personality type was not represented in this sample.

It is important to note that this article is based on a small sample of 100 people, which may introduce bias and cannot fully represent the entire crypto community. Next, let's explore the trading journeys of each MBTI type, and you might just be the "outlier."

INTJ: Insight

INTJs prefer to immerse themselves in technical details and develop long-term investment strategies. They are particularly fond of disruptive technology projects like Layer 2 and cross-chain protocols; after all, who wouldn't want to ride the wave of technology? In fact, 86.67% of INTJs adopt a long-term holding strategy, focusing on the long-term value of projects. After all, achieving financial freedom requires patience; it's not a game of getting rich overnight. They believe that only by deeply understanding a project's technological innovations and practical applications can one find the true wealth code in the crypto space.

In terms of investment returns: this year, 46.67% of INTJs reported returns between 0-10%, representing a conservative approach; 40% had negative returns, possibly due to their deep technical research causing them to forget about market volatility; and 13.33% had returns between 30-50%, giving INTJs some leverage in trading success. The investment approach of INTJs can be summarized in one sentence: "While others are still discovering treasures, I have already started digging." They prefer left-side trading, positioning themselves before the market pays attention, and thus enjoy pre-market trading and launchpad activities on Bitget. While everyone is discussing a particular coin, they may have already begun researching the next one.

INTJs are generally not very active on social media and are unlikely to spread unverified information. 46.67% discuss trading only with a few friends or colleagues rather than being active on social media; true friends are hard to find, three to five are enough. Their social venues are mainly professional forums and technical communities. If you want to find them at a gathering, you might need to look for someone in the corner with a notebook. They value high-quality information and trust verified sources, such as academic papers, white papers, and technical reports. Gossip news? No thanks, not interested. If a project's technological innovation isn't compelling enough to keep them up at night researching, then sorry, next.

INFP: Sentiment

If you see someone in the corner of a café sipping a latte while flipping through a philosophy book, contemplating how to change the world with blockchain, congratulations, you've encountered an INFP in the crypto space. Their hearts are filled with ideals and emotions, believing that cryptocurrency is not just an investment tool but a means to realize social ideals.

INFPs prefer to invest in projects that reflect their values. After all, nothing excites them more than supporting a project that can make the world a better place. Data shows that 90% of INFP investors consider a project's impact on the industry when choosing investments. They believe that through their investments, they can help push the world in a better direction, which is why this personality type often appears in the construction of public goods projects, living a digital nomad lifestyle.

The investment approach of INFPs can be summarized in one sentence: "Where the heart leads, I follow." They tend to make investment decisions based on intuition and personal values, leaning towards right-side trading. When a project resonates with them, they join without hesitation. Regarding risk, 70% of INFPs are willing to take on some risk to support projects they believe in, but they also control risk based on their feelings. They are willing to invest for their ideals, but that doesn't mean they take blind risks. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFPs reported returns between 0-10% this year, indicating a very conservative approach.

ISTP: Spontaneous

ISTPs seem to lean more towards right-side trading. When a project piques their interest, they dive in without hesitation. However, their spontaneity often brings them luck, as they have friends who are professional traders and researchers providing firsthand trading advice and wealth codes. They usually trust these suggestions and make trades after their own simple judgments and screenings.

Regarding risk, most ISTPs focus more on the experience and value of investing rather than purely economic returns. They are willing to take on moderate risks as long as it brings satisfaction and enjoyment. When it comes to emerging projects, they are very selective and spontaneous; nearly half of ISTPs will decide based on the project's situation. As for meme coins, ISTPs have a nuanced attitude; 53.33% are interested but will invest cautiously, possibly due to their study of market psychology.

In terms of investment returns, their earnings may not be stable, with both significant gains and losses. Sometimes, they may achieve substantial returns from investing in a popular meme; other times, they might miss market opportunities due to personal preferences. However, 40% of ISFPs achieved a 30% return this year.

One ISTP Bitget user we interviewed is reflecting on their investment system. Due to a lack of sensitivity to details and data, they often rely on the advice of those around them, leading to forgetfulness about their holdings and slow actions in selling and taking profits, unexpectedly becoming a "diamond hand," holding onto positions until they are halved or go to zero. Therefore, the product they use most frequently is Bitget's copy trading, finding reliable traders for automated operations, allowing for quick decisions to prevent forgetting to sell.

INFJ: Vision

INFJs in the crypto space are idealists, filled with beautiful visions for the future.

INFJs prefer to invest in projects that can change the world, with typical examples being the Layer 2 projects from the first half of this year. They focus on a project's mission and vision, believing that blockchain technology can bring about social innovation. Data shows that 85% of INFJ investors consider the positive social impact of a project from an idealistic perspective when choosing investments.

The investment approach of INFJs involves capturing potential market trends, making decisions based on intuition and deep analysis, and leaning towards a combination of left-side and right-side trading. They may enter projects early and increase their positions when trends become clear, participating in Bitget's launchpad and launchpool based on market conditions, but they rarely engage in contracts. Regarding risk, 70% of INFJs assess whether a project’s mission and values justify the risk. In terms of investment returns, 60% of INFJs reported returns between 10-30%, placing more emphasis on long-term value growth rather than short-term profit fluctuations.

75% of INFJs prefer to share their insights in small circles or professional communities. They are not very keen on making public statements and prefer deep, constructive discussions, valuing intuition and insight, and trusting sources that inspire thought, such as in-depth analysis articles, industry reports, and KOL opinions.

ISFP: Agile

ISFPs in the crypto space are doers who enjoy hands-on work and the process of solving problems. They have a natural sensitivity to technology and numbers, while also prioritizing practicality. They love exploring novel projects, especially those that allow them to participate, test, and improve. At the same time, they are skilled in K-line analysis.

Their industry backgrounds are diverse, with 26.67% coming from finance/investment; 26.67% are full-time traders treating investment as a career; and 13.33% come from the IT/internet sector, part of the programmer community. Besides the crypto space, many also engage in other financial investments like A-shares and Hong Kong stocks.

One ISFP Bitget user told us that they spend most of their time analyzing K-lines and participating in cycling competitions. While these activities provide an adrenaline rush, they do not indulge in such excitement in their daily lives; instead, they pursue a sense of calm and strict adherence to plans. White papers and favorable news are often created by those with ulterior motives, but trading volume and market cap data are mostly real. Therefore, in their daily life, they prefer to analyze the market alone, study K-lines, and avoid mingling in current affairs news circles, even shunning communication in professional communities or technical forums, leaning more towards their practical experience and trusting their intuition and judgment. The Bitget product they use most is contracts, usually focusing on mainstream coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, based on the 200ma technical indicator and the trading volume and market cap of the coins, while strictly setting stop-loss points.

The investment approach of ISFPs can be summarized in one sentence: "Action is paramount; opportunities are fleeting." They tend to make quick decisions based on real-time market changes, leaning towards right-side trading and short-term operations, often engaging in multiple trades in a short period when market fluctuations occur. ISFPs' returns may fluctuate significantly. Sometimes, they can achieve high returns in a short time; other times, they may suffer losses due to overly aggressive strategies. However, for them, the knowledge gained during the process is more important than the outcome.

ENFP: Passion

If you see someone passionately chatting at a blockchain conference, painting a beautiful future for the crypto world, you are likely encountering an ENFP in the crypto space. They are always full of enthusiasm.

ENFPs love to invest in projects filled with novel concepts and immense potential, leaning towards right-side trading. When a project ignites their imagination, they quickly dive in, fearing they might miss the next big opportunity.

Regarding risk, most ENFPs are willing to try high-risk, high-reward investment opportunities. Of course, their returns can be quite volatile. Sometimes, they achieve astonishing returns by hitting the right trends; other times, they may suffer losses due to excessive optimism. But for them, the experience is more important than the outcome.

They are social butterflies, with 90% of ENFPs active on social media and in communities. They enjoy sharing their insights, organizing discussions, and even initiating online and offline events. They believe that connecting with others creates greater value.

INTP: Logic

INTPs make investment decisions based on rigorous theories and logic, showing a strong interest in innovative projects.

In terms of operations and risk preferences, INTPs tend to think independently and make rational decisions, leaning towards left-side trading. They have a relatively rational understanding of risk, with 70% of INTPs moderately participating in high-risk, high-reward investment opportunities while strictly controlling their risk ratios. They are willing to take on some risk to pursue high returns but will use theoretical validation and logical reasoning to reduce uncertainty. In terms of investment returns, nearly all INTPs report returns between 0-10%, demonstrating a steady and rational approach. They do not seek to get rich overnight but rather value long-term value accumulation.

Of course, there are exceptions among INTPs. One Bitget user told us that his most satisfying trade this year was BOME, which is not his area of expertise. However, he noticed the comparison between the pool and market cap, and that very few people in the community mentioned the large pool, so he jumped in. As the price quickly surged, he increased his position. Ultimately, he waited for the major trading platform to launch.

60% of INTPs prefer to discuss with a few like-minded friends or colleagues. They are active in professional communities and enjoy sharing their research findings.

ISTJ: Discipline

If you see someone checking market conditions at regular intervals, recording price trends, and strictly executing trades according to a plan, congratulations, you have encountered an ISTJ in the crypto space. They are the guardians of rules, paying attention to details and order.

ISTJs prefer stable investment strategies and favor mature projects like Bitcoin and Ethereum. They believe that long-term holding is the best way to gain returns and are not easily swayed by market fluctuations. Besides Bitcoin and Ethereum, they are particularly fond of Bitget's financial products, with the recent BGSOL being a favorite. BGSOL is Bitget's liquid staking solution product, where staking SOL earns BGSOL tokens, currently offering an annualized return of around 30.15%. This allows them to generate returns on temporarily unused liquidity without putting all their eggs in one basket.

ISTJs tend to engage in left-side trading, buying when prices are reasonable and holding for a long time. They take a cautious approach to risk, with 80% of ISTJs preferring stable returns and avoiding high-risk investments. They conduct in-depth research on a project's fundamentals, focusing on technical white papers and team backgrounds. For them, data and facts outweigh everything. They prefer independent thinking, with 70% of ISTJs enjoying analyzing the market alone, but they will communicate with professionals when necessary. They are not very active on social media and prefer reading professional reports and information.

ENTJ: Leader

ENTJs enjoy investing in projects with immense potential and grand visions. They focus on industry trends, seeking opportunities that can change the game. They may not only be investors but also promoters and leaders of projects.

Similarly, ENTJs tend to engage in left-side trading, positioning themselves before others discover opportunities. They have a rational understanding of risk, with 60% of ENTJs willing to take on high risks to pursue high returns. They excel at analyzing macro environments and industry trends, formulating long-term strategies. They are not disturbed by short-term fluctuations and focus more on long-term value.

85% of ENTJs are active in industry conferences, professional forums, and social media. They enjoy meeting industry elites and expanding their networks.

ENFJ: Sharing

90% of ENFJs are active in communities, social media, and offline events. They are eager to share, good listeners, and the "soul" of the community. They tend to engage in left-side trading, positioning themselves early based on trust and vision in projects. Regarding risk, 70% of ENFJs are willing to take on moderate risks to support meaningful projects, emphasizing interaction with teams and communities, and enjoying a deep understanding of the ideas and values behind projects.

ISFJ: Guardian

ISFJs in the crypto space value stability and reliability, preferring to invest in verified and safe projects, favoring mainstream coins.

Thus, they prefer right-side trading, taking action when market trends are clear. They take a cautious approach to risk, with 85% of ISFJs favoring low-risk investments and pursuing stable returns. They spend time researching the safety and reliability of projects, avoiding overly complex or high-risk investments.

They are not very active on social media, with 60% of ISFJs preferring to discuss investments with close friends or family. They value trust and reliable relationships.

ESTJ: Execution

ESTJs are doers who pursue excellent execution and prefer to invest in projects with clear business models and profitability. They focus on the practical applications and market prospects of projects, leaning towards tokens that can generate actual returns.

They enjoy right-side trading, making decisions based on market data and trends. 75% of ESTJs have clear control strategies for risk, pursuing stable returns. They are also very fond of financial products, allocating part of their positions to Bitget's stablecoin financial products. ESTJs excel at using technical analysis and data indicators, emphasizing efficiency and execution, and are not easily swayed by emotions. 80% of ESTJs participate in industry conferences, professional forums, and business activities. They value the establishment and maintenance of professional networks.

ENTP: Efficiency

ENTPs enjoy investing in disruptive and innovative projects. They are passionate about new concepts and technologies, eager to explore unknown fields. 90% of ENTPs like to express their opinions on social platforms, participate in discussions, and enjoy sharing and exchanging ideas with others.

They tend to engage in left-side trading, positioning themselves before the market pays attention. They have an open attitude towards risk, with 65% of ENTPs recognizing high risks and high returns. They enjoy debating and thinking, often analyzing markets and projects from different angles, adept at discovering opportunities that others may overlook.

ESFP, ESFJ, ESTP: Optimistic, United, Adventurous

These three MBTI types tend to lean towards right-side trading, enjoying high risks and pursuing high returns. Due to the small number of individuals in these categories within the sample, they are currently the rarest "varieties" in the crypto space.

Overall, we find that crypto investors have a greater risk tolerance than traditional investors, which indirectly suggests and confirms the user characteristics between different trading platforms. For example, because Bitget has a faster pace in listing coins and launching new products, Bitget users also exhibit a stronger investment sensitivity and cutting-edge nature to some extent.

Among them, introverted (I) investors are better at deep thinking, favoring technical analysis and research, and formulating long-term strategies, often playing a "research-oriented" role in the market; while extroverted (E) investors leverage social insights, excelling at finding wealth codes at the forefront of communities and adept at capturing market hotspots.

This also provides us with an interesting perspective to understand how different personality types of investors survive and thrive in the rapidly changing cryptocurrency market, as well as offering some reference information for one's own personality traits, helping to find more suitable trading strategies and products based on individual characteristics.

During the process of exploring the topic of "MBTI and Trading Styles," I realized it had been a long time since I had chatted with so many ordinary users involved in cryptocurrency. Besides seeing the diversity among users, we also witnessed the growth and innovation of trading platforms. Over the years in cryptocurrency trading, projects have evolved from launching one a month to now thousands a day, and trading platforms are continuously iterating to adapt to the ever-changing trading environment.

Thinking back to the most popular pre-market trading this year, it was actually initiated by Bitget, marking an innovative application scenario that finally emerged two years after the major industry crash in 2022. The industry desperately needs innovation in trading.

As we look forward to the next six years during Bitget's sixth anniversary, perhaps the industry will develop to the next scale in markets with unlimited potential like RWA and stablecoins. Bitget will continue to maintain its current innovation, constantly creating new trading scenarios and products to meet the needs of different users. After all, "to win over users is to win the world." A trading platform's most recognized praise in the industry may not only be "this platform can help retail investors make money," but also its ability to provide diverse products that meet the needs of different types of investors.

Lastly, with the upcoming U.S. election voting day next week and Trump's rising odds of victory, the crypto space may welcome a more intense bull market peak. Regardless of personality type, we wish everyone can find the trading strategy that suits them best, maximizing investment returns while being mindful of risks.
