Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk began giving away $1 million a day on Saturday, targeting swing-state residents who sign a petition from his pro-Trump super PAC, America PAC. This petition advocates for free speech and the right to bear arms, reflecting Musk’s deep concerns about protecting constitutional rights. The billionaire explained the giveaway at a rally in Pennsylvania, stating:

Every day between now and the election, we’ll be awarding a million dollars starting tonight.

The initiative aligns with Musk’s broader strategy to influence the upcoming election, in which he has strongly endorsed former U.S. President Donald Trump, warning that a loss could endanger democracy. Musk has also voiced criticism over government overreach and proposed leading a commission under Trump to streamline federal operations and reduce inefficiencies.

At the rally in Pennsylvania, Musk revealed the first recipient of the $1 million prize: John Dreher, who was awarded the money for signing the petition. Musk said on stage: “I have a surprise for you, which is that we are going to be awarding a million dollars randomly to people who have signed the petition … every day from now until the election.”

Musk has frequently been outspoken about the excessive regulation in the U.S., which he believes hinders innovation, particularly in areas like space exploration. He has clashed with various government agencies, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), accusing them of slowing down Spacex’s advancements.

To address government inefficiency and inflation, Musk has proposed reforming bureaucratic processes and expressed interest in leading a commission to eliminate waste in federal programs. He argues that over time, regulations accumulate without sufficient review, creating unnecessary obstacles for industries seeking progress. The billionaire believes the U.S. is on track for bankruptcy under current conditions. He has warned that U.S. laws and regulations will worsen every year without a major reform.

The $1 million daily giveaway is aimed at maximizing awareness of the petition. Musk confirmed the goal on his social media platform X. He wrote:
