Uniswap Labs has announced Unichain, its Ethereum Layer-2 solution aimed at streamlining the user experience for those leveraging its services. The organization specified that Unichain would be built as part of Optimism’s Superchain, designed specifically with decentralized finance in mind. Unichain aims to lower costs by 95% compared to using the Ethereum blockchain and to accelerate transaction completion with one-second block times. In addition, the new chain will feature sub-blocks every 250 milliseconds to “make user experiences feel instant.” As part of the Superchain, Unichain will facilitate faster and easier cross-rollup transactions, allowing siloed liquidity to flow to and from other Optimism-based rollups. Unichain’s testnet was launched on October 10, with a mainnet planned for introduction later this year.
