The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has imposed a new limit on the amount of U.S. dollars that travelers can carry out of the country. Under the revised regulations, travelers are now limited to carrying a maximum of $2,000 in cash when departing Zimbabwe. Previously, travelers were allowed to carry up to $10,000. This measure is intended to curb illegal foreign currency transactions and stabilize the local currency. In recent months, the RBZ has implemented several initiatives to increase transparency and accountability, including publishing its monetary policy statement and updating its exchange control regulations. The bank has also established a structured currency system backed by gold and cash reserves.
