Linea, an Ethereum layer two (L2) network, recently shared news of its integration with Chainlink’s CCIP. The integration allows developers to access a decentralized protocol designed for secure cross-chain communication and asset transfers. According to Linea, it selected CCIP for its strong emphasis on security, enhanced by Chainlink’s Risk Management Network, which monitors cross-chain activities to thwart malicious behavior.

“We are excited to integrate industry-standard Chainlink CCIP, reinforcing our commitment to providing top-tier infrastructure for our ecosystem developers,” Declan Fox the head of product at Linea remarked.

The protocol has several capabilities, including secure programmable token transfers across blockchains. It also enables developers to transfer arbitrary data between smart contracts, opening the door to more complex multi-chain operations. Linea emphasized that these features aim to enhance the user experience by boosting transaction scalability and cutting costs without sacrificing Ethereum’s security.

This integration links Linea to one of the most expansive ecosystems in blockchain, tapping into Chainlink’s trusted reputation for security and interoperability. Linea expects this move to not only grow its ecosystem but also spark innovation by supporting the development of cross-chain decentralized applications (dapps). As of Oct. 8, data from defillama.com data shows that Linea’s total value locked (TVL) is approximately $448 million.
