Last week’s quick recap

In Heroes of Mavia, players build and defend military bases while battling opponents in a strategy-driven Web3 game. Gather resources, upgrade troops, and form alliances to conquer territories. With NFT integration, you can own and trade in-game assets, adding a play-to-earn element to the excitement. A perfect mix of strategy and action! Curious about this game? Check out last week’s article here.

I can’t stop playing this RPG—it’s incredibly addictive! From unlocking the 8 Main Quests, I’ve mastered everything from capturing to attacking opponents’ monsters. Plus, I’ve gotten a handle on the 3 maps (Yorokobi Town, Sunshine Trail, and Heiwa Village) from Spellborne Season 1, which has made my navigation and quest completion much faster.

Missed my first and second game plays? Catch up on everything using the links below.

Spellborne gameplay 2: Unveiling More Quests

I feel incredibly lucky to be one of the first players to dive into this game after its launch in July 2024. The updates and improvements since then have been impressive, and they’ve definitely made my experience even better. One happy player here, indeed!

That’s why I’m so excited to share with you everything that’s happened throughout the game!

Adventure around every corner

In this quest, Specialist Cho challenges you with a riddle. If solved correctly, you’ll earn a reward.

Riddle: “What has three buildings, but holds no residents, yet is filled with rubbish as a testament?”

Answer: A Dumpster.

Got it? Thank me later! 😂

In the Dumpster Diving side quest, Uncle Tony has lost his watch, which ended up in a trash bin near his house. Your task is to talk to Uncle Tony and help him unlock the trash bin to retrieve it.

The side quests really make Spellborne stand out! They may seem simple at first, but once you dive in, you quickly realize—argh! You need a lot of focus and precision with every click.

In this side quest, Helper Akira needs assistance with an overflow of fruit and vegetable boxes in Yorokobi Town. Business at the Greater Market is booming, and it’s time to lend a hand! Another hand-eye coordination challenge. It makes the gameplay feel even more alive and engaging.

In this quest, the mailman is stuck on Sunshine Trail and needs your help to deliver an important parcel to Doctor Keisuke. At first, I struggled to find the mailman’s location since I hadn’t played in a while and almost forgot the maps. Thankfully, the Spellborne wiki came to the rescue! 💌

In this quest, you’re tasked with stealing a copy of the Book of Knowledge for The Order. You’ll need to sneak past vigilant doctors who constantly change their line of sight. Use their movements to your advantage to avoid detection, grab the book from the left room, and report back to the gang members.

It might not seem like the coolest quest, but it unlocks more exciting quests down the line!

In this quest, a Frogge dreams of becoming a professional boxer. You’ll need to talk to Doctor Aiko and help make that dream a reality. This is a fun quest too, since you get to battle Frogge, a water monster character you’ll encounter in the Spellborne game.

In this quest, Young Aya is studying for her upcoming exams, and you can help her by visiting the Heiwa library. The quest takes place on the top floor of the Heiwa Library, where you’ll speak to Aya. She will ask you four random quiz questions (from a pool of eight). Answer correctly to help her pass. If you give wrong answers, she will fail her exam and ask you to return the next day.

I honestly failed this side quest twice. But like other side quests, you can always consult the Spellborne wiki to help you overcome certain challenges along the way!

Speak to Farmer Haruto at Heiwa’s Barn, where he gives you 8 blueberries to plant in the garden. After planting, wait 4 hours for them to grow, harvest them, and deliver the blueberries to Grocer Haruka at the Greater Market in Yorokobi Town. Finally, report back to Farmer Haruto with the good news.

Another quest that seems simple at first, but you need to be prepared! Make sure your bag is stocked with stamina and healing bottles, as you’ll be going back and forth through Sunshine Trail, where you never know which monsters you’ll encounter and might have to battle.

Speak to Young Botan on the top floor of the farmhouse. After collecting 10 gold nuggets, return to him, and in exchange for your help, he’ll gift you a level 1 Flarpy. Occasionally, the Flarpy you receive can be enchanted.

Unfortunately, the Flarpy that I received was not enchanted (rare type) that’s why I just end up setting it free because I already have a leveled up Flarpy with my inventory. Maybe it just wasn’t my lucky day! 😅

In this quest, Collector Atama has traveled from Kokoi and needs your help capturing monsters.

Capture the following monsters:

  • Empod (Level 3)
  • Pandoro (Level 5)
  • Dynorat (Level 7)
  • Toadle (Level 9)

This specific side quest feels more like a main quest due to the long journey you have to undertake. Capturing the required monsters often means leveling them up, leading to many battles along the way. But in the end, the rewards make it all worthwhile!

Is Spellborne Worth Playing? Exploring Gameplay, Replayability, and Web3 Integration

  • Is the game worth playing?
Yes! Spellborne offers immersive RPG elements with varied quests, strategy, and adventure, making it a unique and enjoyable experience.

  • Appeal to a non-crypto audience?
Definitely! The gameplay and narrative are appealing to traditional gamers, with Web3 adding optional rewards for those interested.
  • Replayability
High replayability due to side quests, collectible monsters, and evolving challenges. Frequent updates keep the game fresh and engaging.
  • Web3 Integration
Web3 is seamlessly integrated, allowing players to trade NFT assets and earn $BORNE tokens through gameplay. These features enhance the game but are optional for non-crypto players.
  • Are the Web3 elements easy to grasp?
Yes, blockchain concepts are gently introduced, making it accessible for non-crypto players without overwhelming them.
  • Is the integration good?
The Web3 integration is additive**, enhancing the gameplay with ownership and rewards, while remaining optional and not intrusive.

Tokenomics Overview

The $1.35M+ seed raise is a strong indicator of Spellborne’s long-term potential, allowing Mon Studios to improve gameplay and expand their portfolio. However, it’s essential to prevent over-allocating tokens to early investors to avoid market centralization and volatility upon launch.

A balanced token distribution plan is key. Mechanisms like vesting schedules for early investors can prevent large sell-offs, ensuring price stability. Adequate token allocation for in-game rewards and community engagement will further support sustainable growth.

Spellborne’s play-to-airdrop program and allocation of 10% of the token supply for early players are strong incentives that align player and community interests, fostering long-term engagement.

The raised funds will also support the development of Guardians of Celestia and other titles, potentially boosting the value of the $BORNE token as it becomes usable across multiple games, enhancing the studio’s ecosystem.

Potential Risks

  • Early Investor Distribution: Over-allocating tokens to early investors could destabilize the market post-launch.
  • Transparency: Clear communication about token distribution plans is crucial for maintaining community trust and long-term sustainability.

Conclusion

Spellborne’s tokenomics looks promising with a focus on balanced token distribution, community rewards, and expansion. If managed well, it will create a solid foundation for growth and player engagement.
