Powell's term as Federal Reserve Chairman will expire in May 2026, and he has stated that he will not resign voluntarily

On April 19th, according to Reuters, Powell had stated that US law does not allow the president to dismiss him, and even if Trump requests it, he will not resign voluntarily. He plans to serve his full term as Federal Reserve Chairman until May 2026. In addition, Powell's term as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors will continue until January 2028. He also stated this week that he believes the case currently being heard by the US Supreme Court is unlikely to apply to the Federal Reserve.
