According to BlockBeats, on March 3rd, according to FinnceFeeds, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) has explicitly stated that it will not use Bitcoin as a reserve asset, citing concerns about the stability of this cryptocurrency. This decision has dealt a significant blow to the hope of Bitcoin becoming a recognized reserve asset. The Swiss National Bank adopts a cautious attitude towards Bitcoin, mainly due to its high price volatility and rapid changes. For example, in 2022, Bitcoin plummeted by 17.5% in a single day. In contrast, traditional reserve investments such as gold and foreign exchange have long performed more stably, which is why central banks around the world prefer these assets. This refusal attitude highlights the challenges that cryptocurrencies face in gaining recognition from the global mainstream banking system. Although some countries and companies are incorporating digital assets into their reserves, Bitcoin is still primarily seen as a venture capital rather than a fundamental financial instrument. However, this decision may not hinder the long-term growth of Bitcoin, as private adoption and other financial systems are still evolving.
