On September 28th, according to insiders, Musk achieved a major milestone this week at his new xAI data center in Memphis, with all 100000 advanced Nvidia chips simultaneously launched.
This achievement earned the data center the nickname "Colossus" and made it the most powerful computer known, representing an important technological advancement for xAI, a relatively young company that was able to put the massive facility into operation in less than six months.
Although Musk stated on Twitter that the facility is the largest in the world, industry experts question whether xAI has the necessary energy and technological capabilities to run so many GPUs at the same time - in this case Nvidia's H100 chip.
XAI is using this data center to train AI models that support Grok, and the company's chatbot claims to be an uncensored version of ChatGPT.
