FBI recovers $8.3 million embezzled by former Kansas bank CEO from encrypted account in Cayman Islands

According to Fortune, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has successfully recovered $8.3 million that was misappropriated by the former CEO of a Kansas bank and stored in a cryptocurrency account in the Cayman Islands. Yesterday in federal court in Kansas, 30 community bank shareholders burst into tears of relief upon learning that they would fully recoup their investments.
In August, it was reported that Shan Hanes, former CEO of Heartland Tri State Bank, a small bank in Kansas, was sentenced to over 24 years in prison for embezzling tens of millions of dollars after being caught in a cryptocurrency "pig killing spree" and causing the bank to go bankrupt.
