BlockBeats reported on September 26th that Meta unveiled a series of new products at an event at its headquarters in Menlo Park, California on Wednesday, including an updated, low-cost Quest 3S virtual reality headset and a range of enhanced features for its artificial intelligence assistant Meta AI.
These updates will bring a range of celebrity voices to the company's AI assistant - including Awkwafina, John Cena, and Dame Judi Dench - that will respond to user inquiries. This assistant is integrated into most mainstream applications of Meta, including Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Facebook.
These new products are Zuckerberg's attempt to combine his vision for social networks with current technological possibilities. Although Meta has achieved some success in selling virtual reality headsets and Ray Ban augmented reality glasses unexpectedly sell well, Zuckerberg's vision of the metaverse is still several years away from realization.
Over the past few years, Meta has invested nearly $50 billion in its Reality Labs division, which is part of the company's hardware business. The department is unable to make a profit in the short term. In addition, the cost of Meta's expansion into artificial intelligence and data centers is also increasing.
