SEC Chairman Gary Gensler releases House testimony: $4.9 billion in fines and recoveries for fiscal year 2023

Odaily Planet Daily News: US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Gary Gensler has released the full text of his testimony before the US House Financial Services Committee, revealing that the work of law enforcement agencies is at the core of the SEC's investor protection responsibilities. In the 2023 fiscal year, the SEC took 784 enforcement actions, resulting in fines and recoveries totaling $4.9 billion. Where feasible, the civil penalties and recoveries obtained by the SEC in civil enforcement actions will be refunded to victimized investors, and $930 million will be allocated to victimized investors in the 2023 fiscal year.
