BlockBeats news, on August 22nd, according to China Chang'an Network, the People's Court of Le'an County, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, recently made a judgment on a case that occurred in the county where "film and television prop coins" were used to purchase virtual currency. Four defendants were sentenced to 1 year and 9 months to 2 years and 2 months in prison for fraud. In 2023, Mr. Yang, a resident of Le'an County, conducted two offline transactions of "Tether Coin" (virtual currency) with a person nicknamed "Fatty", gaining Mr. Yang's trust. In 2024, "Fatty" once again expressed his intention to spend 50000 yuan to purchase "Tether Coin" from Mr. Yang's hands. At the time of the transaction, it was already late and the lights were dim. "Fatty" repeatedly interrupted Mr. Yang to check the cash in the transaction and quickly drove away on an electric bicycle after the transaction was completed. Mr. Yang only discovered during the inspection that a few of the bills in each stack were genuine. The cash for the remaining transactions was prominently printed with the words' film and television prop coins'. On January 30th, police officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Le'an County Public Security Bureau arrested suspects Huang and Yi (accompanying personnel who fled with "Fatty" at the time of the incident) in a hotel in Shangli County. On February 6th, police arrested the suspect Xie (also known as "Fatty") in a rented house in Shangli County. After interrogation by the police, it was found that the organizational structure of the gang was consistent with the police's previous inference, and its leaders were the suspect Huang and the fugitive Li. Huang and Li were responsible for finding the fraud target and setting up a trap throughout the entire transaction process to lure the other party into being deceived. At the same time, Huang determined that the public security organs would not accept cases involving virtual currency transactions, and used this to encourage the suspect Xie to act as a "pawn", while Yi was responsible for "cooperating" with Xie to ensure that he quickly escaped and committed fraud against the victim. In order to apprehend all suspects in the case, the police further analyzed the information provided by Huang, Yi, and Xie and found that Li had fled to Guizhou Province. On February 17th, police went to Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province and arrested the last suspect in the case, Li. In the end, the People's Court of Le'an County adopted the charges brought by the People's Procuratorate of Le'an County. On July 25th, the court sentenced four defendants to imprisonment ranging from 1 year and 9 months to 2 years and 2 months, and imposed fines ranging from 6000 yuan to 18000 yuan. In response, the relevant person in charge of the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Le'an County Public Security Bureau stated that this case is one of the typical cases of the bureau's crackdown on new crimes. The public security, procuratorial and judicial departments are based on protecting the safety of people's lives and property, preventing similar cases from escalating into malignant crimes, strengthening cooperation, and providing reference for combating similar new types of crimes. In the process of case investigation, the police carefully studied and judged the case, which lasted one month, and went 1000 kilometers away to capture all the suspect, which also laid the foundation for the Bureau to investigate such cases in the future.
