Meta cuts over 100 employees in Reality Labs department

According to informed sources, Meta Platforms (META. O) is laying off over 100 employees in its Reality Labs division, which focuses on developing virtual reality and wearable devices. The insider revealed that the latest round of layoffs has affected employees at Reality Labs who are focused on creating VR experiences for Meta's Quest headset, as well as operations staff who are dedicated to hardware. The Meta leadership hopes to simplify the similar work being completed by two different teams within Reality Labs. According to media reports, the company confirmed that it has laid off employees, but did not comment on the number of affected employees.
