TikTok tests Footnotes feature, strengthens video content annotation and background information supplementation

According to TikTok's official announcement, the platform has started testing a new feature called "Footnotes" in the United States, which draws on the Community Notes mechanism of the X platform and allows eligible users to add background information and relevant context to short videos. This feature adopts a bridging consensus mechanism, and annotations need to be reviewed by users from different perspectives before they can be publicly displayed, aiming to improve content reliability and understanding depth. Footnotes will operate in conjunction with the platform's existing tags, search prompts, and fact checking system to further enrich information sources and improve the platform's content ecosystem.
