MARKETS RATTLED BY TARIFF CONFUSION
Markets were shaken Wednesday after a White House fact sheet mentioned China now faces tariffs "up to 245%"—much higher than the widely assumed 145%.
This sparked confusion, but the White House clarified: the 245% figure isn't new. It includes existing tariffs:
🔸 125% reciprocal tariff
🔸 20% fentanyl-related tariff
🔸 7.5–100% under Section 301
Bottom line: no new tariffs, just a misinterpretation. Still, the confusion highlights how complex and unclear the current tariff landscape has become—even for seasoned market watchers.
