One of the most important things in this market is knowing when to step back and when to go hard. We generally see several months of chop followed by a strong directional move. The directional moves are where the money is made. Both by trading and on your long term holdings. The consolidation/choppy periods in between are where you'll use a lot of energy and generally get very little reward in return, if any at all.
