According to Bitcoin.com, the lower house of the Argentine Congress has approved the establishment of a special committee to investigate the role of government officials in the issuance and collapse of the La Libertad Avanza project (Libra token). The committee is composed of 24 legislators who will review testimonies from various parties to confirm whether President Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei, and other government officials were involved in the issuance of the token and its subsequent collapse. The committee will launch an investigation on April 23rd and is required to submit an investigation report within three months to clarify relevant responsibilities.
Millet first announced the Libra token plan as early as February, claiming that it will be used to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Argentina. However, just a few hours after the token was issued, the price plummeted, causing tens of thousands of investors to suffer losses. This congressional investigation is one of the investigations launched by multiple domestic and foreign institutions into the Libra token incident. Other participating institutions include the Argentine court and the US Department of Justice, all of whom are committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident.
