Tanuki for Crown Prince: $500 million theft case between FDT (First Digital Trust) and Aria
There is an ancient legend in China that a cruel and ruthless concubine secretly turned the newborn prince into a raccoon cat for personal gain. This allusion is now used as a metaphor to describe scams that achieve illegal goals by secretly changing packages and deceiving the truth.
The case involved in FDT is a modern version of 'tanuki for crown prince'. They meticulously planned a conspiracy to deceive Techeryx, illegally transferring $455 million to Aria DMCC and disguising it as a legitimate investment in Aria Commodities Finance Fund (ACFF).
This is similar to the common address replacement attacks in the blockchain industry: hackers simply replace their original receiving address with their own, thus completing the theft of funds.
However, in the traditional financial system, the process of address replacement is more complex, but fundamentally it is still a very direct act of theft.
I am now publicly disclosing the address replacement method they used, hoping to help more people avoid becoming victims of fraud by FDT (First Digital Trust) and its conspirators.
As part of a complex and massive Ponzi scheme, Truecoin colluded with FDT and, with the cooperation of Finaport, a licensed investment advisor in Singapore, lured Techeryx into signing a series of agreements, including listing ACFF, a mutual fund registered in the Cayman Islands, as an authorized investment product. Afterwards, it can be seen that ACFF itself has also been involved in multiple international investment fraud cases.
But this is another story.
What actually happened was that FDT did not invest the funds into the Cayman Fund (ACFF), but instead transferred approximately $456 million to Aria DMCC - a third-party company based in Dubai - without authorization or notification from Techeryx. (The address replacement happened!!!) These funds then evaporated. According to the current investigation, several conspirators (Alex De Lorraine, Vincent Chok, Yai Sukonthabhund) fraudulently obtained at least a few million dollars of ill gotten gains through secret kickbacks.
Throughout the entire fraud process, the fraudster intentionally falsified the flow and nature of funds. According to the agreement, ACFF is a Cayman fund managed by Matthew Brittain through Aria Capital Management Ltd. and is the only authorized investment subject. However, Aria Commodities DMCC - an entity controlled by Matthew's wife Cecilia Brittain (who is also a full-time teacher) - is a completely unapproved independent company with no connection to Techteryx's authorization.
(Note: Even if the names are similar, these two companies are completely different entities - just like in blockchain, as long as there is a character difference in the address, it is a completely different wallet address!!!)
In order to complete the operation of replacing the crown prince with a raccoon cat, the embezzled $501.8 million - originally an unauthorized trade financing loan - was later reclassified as an investment subscription for ACFF. This operation received illegal assistance from IFIT (ACFF Fund Manager).
This post match behavior constitutes securities fraud, aimed at concealing the fact that funds have already been transferred to DMCC and become irretrievable when Techeryx attempts to redeem them in 2023.
Further evidence also shows that there are more levels of concealment and embezzlement in this case. FDT CEO Vincent Chok personally instructed to transfer at least $15.5 million in secret kickbacks from Aria DMCC into a side pocket account called "Glass Door" in Hong Kong, with the ironic name being self-evident.
This case is currently becoming part of a global judicial and law enforcement operation aimed at bringing relevant personnel to justice. As these fraudsters operate under real names, we firmly believe that they will ultimately face severe legal punishment, and we are also confident that all funds will be recovered.
