History Repeats? Trump's Market Move Mirrors Obama 2009 🧐
▶ Around March 3, 2009, President Barack Obama famously said: “What you're now seeing is profit and earnings ratios are starting to get to the point where buying stocks is a potentially good deal if you’ve got a long-term perspective on it.”
This is after S&P 500 plunged 17% right after Obama’s inauguration, in the period following the 2007 financial downturn.
▶ Earlier today, Trump posted: "This is a great time to buy." Shortly after, a 90-day pause on tariffs was announced. The markets reacted sharply:
- Bitcoin surged over 10%,
- the S&P 500 jumped more than 11%,
- and the NASDAQ soared over 14% in a single day.
▶ Could the remainder of Trump’s second term mirror Obama’s first, when the market surged roughly 75% over four years? 🤔 The parallels are there—but nothing is guaranteed.
This chart will be one to watch closely in the coming months.
