Agreed.
People don’t understand, that China isn’t a volume game.
It’s a proportion game.
They buy 99% of our Soybeans, 98% of our sorghum and 50% of our chicken.
Soybeans are 52B a year of cash crops that farmers rely on to make domestic agriculture viable.
It’s about 10% of the *entire* annual US crop value, but **20%** of all US farming profit.
With China as the only real size buyer.
According to Purdue’s agricultural research survey, the average US farm last year had only an 11% operating profit margin and 18% of all US farms have soybeans in their rotation (as of 2023)
So China can single handily destroy one of the largest cash crops, putting just shy of 20% of all US farms in negative profit.
That is incredibly targeted pain.
