South Korea may hold early presidential elections on June 3rd

According to multiple South Korean media reports cited by Xinhua News Agency, the acting president and prime minister of South Korea, Han Deok soo, had a phone call with the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Roh Tae yeol, on the same day, and the two had reached a consensus on "designating June 3rd as the early election day". The regular State Council meeting scheduled for April 8th may ultimately determine the date for the presidential election. Yonhap News Agency and other media reported on the same day that the two sides discussed the matter of holding a new presidential election within 60 days after Yoon Seok yeol's dismissal, that is, before June 3, during the phone call. According to South Korean law, a new presidential election must be held within 60 days after the vacancy of the presidency, and the acting president must announce the election date 50 days before the election day. According to the website of the Central Election Commission of South Korea, the registration of candidates for the presidential election will begin on the 4th.
