During his imprisonment for bribery, Lee Sang jun, former CEO of Bithumb, still received approximately 4.7 billion Korean won (approximately 3.5 million US dollars) in compensation from the company, including a bonus of 1.4 million US dollars, a retirement pension of 1.5 million US dollars, and a basic salary of 320000 US dollars. A spokesperson for Bithumb stated that it has made significant contributions to the company's specialized operations. At the same time, salaries in the South Korean cryptocurrency industry have surged, with Upbit's parent company Dunamu Chairman receiving a reward of $82 million last year and an average annual salary of $147000 for employees.
