Odaily Planet Daily - Bitcoin Policy Research Institute proposes to issue new treasury bond "BitBonds" to support the Trump government's strategic Bitcoin reserve plan. The bond will provide an annual interest rate of 1% (lower than the interest rate of 4.5% for ordinary treasury bond), and 10% of the raised capital will be used to purchase Bitcoin.
According to the plan, if BitBonds with a scale of 2 trillion US dollars are issued, it can save 700 billion US dollars in interest over ten years. At present, the US government holds about 200000 bitcoins (worth $17 billion), and after deducting the required returns, the initial size of the strategic reserve is about 103500 bitcoins.
The plan aims to achieve budget neutral increase in Bitcoin holdings, while reducing the cost of treasury bond. The Minister of Finance will evaluate the feasibility of this plan within 60 days. (The Block)
