According to BlockBeats, on March 31st, SpaceX's manned Dragon spacecraft will begin its sixth manned space mission (Fram-2) on April 1st, which will be the first human polar orbit manned flight mission. This task will last for 3 to 5 days. Expected to be launched from Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA on April 1, 2025 at 11:20 Beijing time.
There are a total of four astronauts participating in this mission, namely F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun, Yannick Mikkelsen, Rabia Rogge, and Eric Phillips. The Wang Chun team self funded the nearly $200 million cost of this flight plan, which is also the first privately contracted polar orbit mission in commercial space history. Wang Chun will serve as the commander of the mission.
The spacecraft will enter a polar orbit with a tilt angle of 90 ° and an orbital altitude between 425 and 450 kilometers. The spacecraft will orbit along the polar regions, flying from the South Pole to the North Pole, and then back to the South Pole, repeating this process.
