Contemporary Review and Revision of Heidegger's Critique of Technology
Martin Heidegger's critique of technology profoundly reveals the potential threat of modern technology to human existence. He did not oppose technology itself in a general way, but deeply analyzed the essence of the "framework" of modern technology, which is a way of thinking that brings everything into a controllable and usable framework. This' pedestal 'technology originates from Newton's deterministic reductionism, simplifying the world into functional tools and thus obscuring the meaning of the' existence 'of things themselves.
However, it is necessary for us to conduct contemporary examination and revision of Heidegger's views. He seems to view all modern technologies as functional tools and overlook the development of emergence theory technology. Emergence theory emphasizes the unique properties of complex systems as a whole, and emphasizes the interaction and symbiosis between humans and nature, humans and machines.
For example, the Bitcoin designed by Satoshi Nakamoto is not simply a functional tool, but an important practice of emergence theory technology. It promotes meaningful interaction between humans and machines through a decentralized mechanism, constructing a new socio-economic form. This technology embodies the characteristics of human-computer interaction and coexistence, which is fundamentally different from the instrumental technology criticized by Heidegger.
In fact, we are witnessing a paradigm shift in technology: from closed functionalist tool technology to a natural technology that integrates emergence theory. Artificial intelligence is evolving from tool based AI serving specific functions to conscious AI with self-awareness; Blockchain technology is also transitioning from a formal deterministic tool to a Bitcoin like "life form" technology.
This transformation is not to completely negate the value of instrumental technology, but to seek a more balanced and sustainable path for technological development. We should integrate the wisdom of emergence theory into technological development, respect the complexity and diversity of nature, and build a new pattern of harmonious coexistence between humans and machines, humans and nature.
This means that we should not only focus on the functionality of technology, but also on its social and ethical aspects. We should not only pursue efficiency and convenience, but also pursue meaning and value. We not only need to control and utilize technology, but also establish an interdependent and mutually inspiring partnership with technology.
Through contemporary examination and revision of Heidegger's critique of technology, we can gain a clearer understanding that technology is not a one-dimensional force, but can be guided and shaped. We should not only be vigilant about the dangers of technological "scaffolding", but also actively explore the potential of emerging technologies, ultimately achieving harmonious coexistence between technology and humanity, technology and nature.
