The altcoin market looks like the Russell small cap index: languishing below its 2021 highs. Years of QE created an illusion. An abundance of free money led to a belief in an abundance of untapped utility. The truth is that most projects have failed to prove any purpose for having a token other than to push money around the ecosystem in trivially different ways from other projects.
