According to a study by Atmos on March 23rd, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the most enthusiastic country in the world towards cryptocurrency, with a score of 98.4. This Middle Eastern country leads second place Singapore by a narrow margin (97.5 points) and is more than ten points higher than third place United States (85.4 points).
The highest ranking in the United Arab Emirates was achieved with very little Bitcoin ATM infrastructure. According to the research report, in order to provide background information, the third ranked United States has 29834 Bitcoin ATMs, while the United Arab Emirates only has one. Nevertheless, the UAE's 25.3% cryptocurrency holding rate and 210% adoption rate are sufficient to ensure its top spot.
At the same time, Canada has the second largest number of Bitcoin ATMs in the world (3561), but with an overall score of 72, ranking fourth. This score is attributed to its 10.1% cryptocurrency holding rate and 225% adoption rate. In Türkiye, due to the economic uncertainty caused by currency depreciation, its holding rate of cryptocurrency ranks third (19.3%). However, the country's low adoption rate, coupled with the scarcity of Bitcoin ATMs (only 7), has earned it a score of 67.8, making it the fifth most cryptocurrency friendly country.
Despite Switzerland's cryptocurrency ownership rate reaching double digits (11.5%), its adoption rate is only 90%, the lowest among the top ranked countries, resulting in a score of only 58.1. According to a research report, the lower adoption rate of Switzerland, ranked seventh, indicates that it is a 'mature market rather than an emerging adoption'.
