According to a report by The New York Times, federal prosecutors in the United States have stated that a man who used to work as a sound engineer for rapper Eminem was charged on Wednesday with leaking and selling his unreleased music online for a profit of approximately $50000 in Bitcoin. The man's name is Joseph Strange, who worked at Eminem's studio in Furndale, near Detroit, for four years, but lost his job in 2021. According to an affidavit from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as part of his resignation agreement, he was explicitly prohibited from electronically disseminating Eminem's works. Strange sold approximately 25 songs created by Eminem between 1999 and 2018 but not yet released, which were played, shared, or sold online without the consent of Eminem or its music copyright owner Interscope Capital Labels Group. The Eastern District Attorney's Office in Michigan has stated that Eminem has been charged with copyright infringement and cross state transportation theft.
