On March 19th, according to The Block, Ethereum core developers plan to terminate support for the Holesky testnet in September 2025 and are preparing for its role transition and eventual abandonment. Abandoning test networks is a common practice, and Ethereum developers previously stopped Kiln, Ropsten, and Rinkeby in 2022, and Goerli last year. Holesky was launched in September 2023 and is one of the two main testnets for Ethereum, the other being Sepolia. It has always been a key public testing network for staking, infrastructure, and protocol development.
