On March 3, 2025, I was scammed and suffered financial losses in the @ avalonfinanciance_ community (see https://www.avalonfinanciance_)// ((x.com))/LiamWang88/status/1896511589270061550)。
After contacting me publicly on Twitter and through friends in my circle, a Twitter operator from Avalon Finance contacted me seeking help in resolving the issue. I also had a conversation with @ 0xvebb, co-founder of AvalonLabs, on TG to report the issue of rampant scammers in the community.
At that time, Avalon Finance's responsible attitude and spirit made me feel gratified as a community member, so I later posted a tweet to express my gratitude

So a few days later, I started collecting wallets (including stolen funds) and wanted to pledge a large amount of money on the project. However, I found that a small amount of stolen funds was not synchronized with them in a timely manner. So, on March 10th, I sent a TG message to my Twitter operations partner who had previously contacted me proactively, informing him of this matter and my demands. I also sent him a screenshot of the transfer of funds on the chain, but was told that 'these are two different things, we need to talk to his boss'. I was dumbfounded at the time. After they contacted me proactively to seek a solution for me, because I missed telling them about this money, it turned out to be two different things?
Since I can understand why I want to talk to the boss, I will continue to wait. On March 13th, I asked this Twitter operator on TG and received feedback that "let the boss make the decision. The boss has already seen my message and will reply to me on his own.
As of today, March 17th, I still haven't received a clear response.
This surprised me greatly. On the one hand, I was surprised by the completely different attitude before and after. In fact, there wasn't much money involved. Even if you didn't want to solve it for me, just let me know, and you wouldn't have to give me feedback without any communication.
On the other hand, I also noticed early on that a response defining their core responsibilities that I had communicated with this member of Twitter's operations team had been modified. Even though I discovered it early on, I didn't want to get entangled with them. Because I don't think so, after all, I also know their investors and many partners, and their attitude at the beginning really made me feel very responsible. Later, I found out that my initial TG chat conversation with this operations colleague had also been deleted by the other party. This is another point that surprises me greatly. It makes me feel like I'm a scammer with ulterior motives towards them. I really wouldn't give up the reputation I have accumulated in the industry for a small amount of money.
They may have really forgotten to give me a response regarding my need for an explanation. It is also possible that the project team is very busy and has no time to take care of my small matter.
Anyway, I also don't want to maliciously speculate on the reasons behind this. For me, this is a small amount of money, and I don't want to waste any more time on this matter or trouble my friends in the industry. But will I still choose to use a large sum of money as collateral now? I won't know.

After this incident occurred on March 3rd, I also received help and advice from many friends at that time. Of course, we have also had several discussions on this matter. As a practitioner, I think these issues are worth discussing:
1、 Is the Chinese project trustworthy?
At that time, many friends blamed me for not participating in the Chinese team's project. I don't know when the Chinese project started, which is equivalent to the three words' cutting leeks'. I personally completely disagree with this statement. I believe that both Chinese and non Chinese projects involve cutting leeks and irresponsible behavior. I have personally witnessed many irresponsible behaviors in non Chinese projects, which is a common problem in the industry. More importantly, as a member of the Chinese team, I am willing to support their projects. After all, if we do not support them ourselves, the voice and power of the Chinese in the Crypto industry will be weak. Do we really hope for this?
2、 Is community important?
If this question is openly presented to any project party, it will definitely receive a 100% answer and is definitely important. But the reality is that sometimes, due to factors such as manpower and energy, as well as a lack of effective operational methods, it is difficult for crypto project teams to truly operate and manage communities effectively, which is also a common problem. Moreover, an undeniable fact is that the so-called community, at present, many people come for benefits such as airdrops and high returns, and community consensus is very weak. But the difference between excellent project partners and ordinary project partners may be reflected in this. Even though the community is initially driven by interests, excellent project partners can always convey values through sincere communication and demonstrate a responsible spirit, thus forming a deeper connection with the community. This requires time to verify, but once such project parties are discovered, in my opinion, they are definitely worth investing in.
3、 Does the project require a public relations team?
I used to think it wasn't necessary, but now I think it's necessary. My past experience was that every community member in the Crypto industry is a PR professional, especially the content that project founders post on the X platform every day is a very powerful PR image building tool. But after staying in this industry for a long time, you will find that many project parties have poor public relations abilities. Either it's just arguing with others in the community or on social media, or only spending money to hire KOLs to place orders (with a low input-output ratio). Another issue is that when negative public opinion arises, there is a tendency to resort to legal means to delete articles, and the public relations thinking and approach are too simplistic. In my opinion, the team members of the Crypto project need to have a member with public relations experience - not only in brand building, but also in crisis management. After all, there are too many potential public opinion crises in the Crypto industry, and any negative one can cause great harm to the project team. It is not an exaggeration to say that the Crypto industry needs a mature and experienced public relations team more than the Web2 industry.
