According to Mario Nawwal, there has been a surge in social media hacking attacks in the UK, with related cases increasing from 22530 in 2023 to 35434 in 2024. Hackers typically impersonate users and trick their friends into providing security codes by taking over social media or email accounts. Chain detective ZachXBT stated that the punishment for cybercrime in the UK is relatively low, and even if fraud is reported, offenders often do not receive substantial punishment. In addition, law enforcement agencies also face resource shortages when dealing with such cases.
