🇦🇷 Argentina is stepping up its game in the crypto space! The Argentine securities regulator CNV has published resolution 1058, introducing new compliance rules for virtual asset service providers (VASPs) as part of the oversight established by Law 27.739. 📜
These regulations require VASPs to provide extensive documentation, security plans, and fund reserves, while also ensuring customer awareness of operational risks. A key feature is the segregation of customer and exchange assets, aimed at protecting users from potential crises like FTX. 🔒
The CNV consulted industry players to create these norms, balancing regulation with the need to foster innovation. However, local insiders expressed concerns over the lack of attention to tax issues, as crypto assets face unfair treatment compared to traditional assets.
The new regulations will take effect on December 31, 2025, giving VASPs time to adapt.
