According to Chainwire, the Layer1 blockchain Shardeum is preparing to launch the mainnet and has conducted structured airdrop activities targeting early contributors. A total of 5.5 million SHM tokens will be distributed to 63000 eligible wallets, with airdrops divided into two different phases, each targeting a different group of contributors: Phase 1 rewards users who participated in Liberty Alphanet and Sphinx Betanet between February 2022 and June 2024, with a snapshot taken on June 22, 2024, and a total of 3.3 million SHM tokens distributed. The second phase is mainly aimed at those who participated in Shardeum's Atomium incentive test network from June 2024 to March 2025, and will take a snapshot on March 1, 2025, with a total allocation of 2.1 million SHMs.
In addition, Layer1 blockchain Shardeum announced on the X platform today that the SHM token airdrop registration has been launched. Qualified users who register within the first 7 days will receive distribution during TGE. The SHM airdrop registration will end at 07:59 Beijing time on April 14, 2025. According to its recently released updated token economics, the uses of SHM include staking, rewards, and gas functions. Its initial supply is 249 million tokens, of which 36.72% are used for sales (linear unlocking within 2 years after a 3-month lock period), 30.6% are allocated to teams (linear unlocking within 2 years after a 3-month lock period), 22.44% are allocated to foundations (unlocking during TGE), and 10.23% are allocated to ecosystems and airdrops (unlocking during TGE). Similar to Ethereum, validator rewards will be dynamically generated based on network demand, and as all fees are 100% destroyed, SHM is expected to show a deflationary trend over time.
