The top-selling vehicle in the U.S. and Ford’s main profit engine is one of the industry’s biggest users of aluminum, which is subject to new tariffs as of Wednesday.

"Ford’s brawny F-150 and Super Duty pickup trucks, the company’s biggest profit generators, are among the most aluminum-intensive vehicles on the market. The company a decade ago converted the trucks to a mostly aluminum exterior, including the hood, doors and truck bed, to save weight and enhance fuel efficiency."
"Ford had been working with suppliers to stockpile aluminum materials ahead of the Wednesday deadline. Even though the company gets most of its aluminum sheet from rolling mills in the U.S., those suppliers rely on smelters in Canada to provide much of the aluminum they roll."
"A Ford spokesman said it would take many years to rewire its supply chains to get more automotive-grade aluminum from the U.S."
