Co founder of Russian sanctioned cryptocurrency trading platform Garantex arrested in India

On March 13th, according to TechCrunch, Aleksej Besicokov, co-founder of the sanctioned Russian cryptocurrency trading platform Garantex, was arrested while on vacation in India. Besicokov is facing charges of money laundering conspiracy, violation of sanctions conspiracy, and operating an unlicensed fund transfer business. Last week, a joint operation by international law enforcement agencies consisting of the United States, Germany, and Finland seized Garantex's servers and domain names, and frozen nearly $28 million in cryptocurrency assets, with the assistance of stablecoin issuer Tether.
