Just now, the House of Representatives passed the "Clean Version Ultra Long Term" Temporary Appropriations Act (CR, H.R. 1968) with 217:213 votes, which means that the probability of a federal "shutdown" on March 14th will be reduced, and Republicans will be able to devote more time and energy to "packaging budget coordination bills". The passage of this CR showcases a rare level of unity among Republicans surrounding Trump in recent years.
In order to pass this' clean version of the super long 'CR, Republicans have collectively mobilized:
Last week, Trump held a meeting with several "potential opponents" to communicate, and even issued a statement threatening hardliner Thomas Massie (R-KY-4);
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles also attempted to persuade Cory Mills (R-FL-7) from Florida;
Vice President JD Vance personally visited the House of Representatives to oversee the CR campaign;
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-4) and leader Steve Scalise (R-LA-1) launched a multi-faceted attack;
The White House even issued an official statement regarding this CR.
After the House of Representatives passed this CR, Speaker Johnson has put the House in recess until March 14th! Unconsciously putting pressure on the Democratic Party, Senate Democrats have only two choices left: either bypass the "lengthy debate" and pass this CR, or boycott the CR and force the federal government to "shut down" on March 14th!
