According to Bloomberg, Apple has indefinitely postponed the AI upgrade for Siri, and the personalized Siri feature originally scheduled for the iOS 18.4 update will be postponed until at least 2026. Insiders revealed that the project could not be completed as planned due to technical issues and may even be overturned and rebuilt.
Apple originally planned to enhance Siri's AI capabilities to make it closer to the ChatGPT style conversational experience, but due to poor performance in internal testing, executives such as software owner Craig Federighi questioned the usability of the feature. In addition, Siri upgrades may require stronger AI computing capabilities, which may affect compatibility with older devices and delay future product releases.
At present, the Apple AI team is facing internal pressure, with employees questioning whether management should make adjustments. At the same time, competitors such as Amazon, Google, and Samsung are accelerating the integration of AI technology.
