Generate a cold wallet 1. Use a Ledger device to reset to a new wallet • Select 'Set as new device' → Generate 24 word mnemonic words Be sure to operate in an offline environment and avoid networking • No photos, no screenshots, no online presence, only copied onto paper or metal plates 2. Create a Bitcoin payment address Create a new Bitcoin account on Ledger Live Record the receiving address (public key) of the account 3. Transfer 1 BTC to a new address Send 1 BTC to a cold wallet address using an online wallet (such as Binance, Coinbase, other wallets) Use a blockchain browser to verify if the transaction was successful 4. Third copy (only storing BTC address to prevent forgetting) In a separate notebook or file, only record the Bitcoin address (without mnemonic words or private keys) This allows you to check your balance at any time, ensuring that BTC remains safe 4. Access and recovery mechanism 1. How to recover BTC • You can recover on your own: • Use your Ledger+Backup 1 (full mnemonic)+memorized Passphrase • Family/beneficiary recovery: • Use Backup 2 (Shamir shard), if you are unable to restore it on your own, you can have 2 trusted persons collaborate to restore it 2.
